Damon Stanwell-Smith
Damon has been working at UNEP-WCMC since October 2008, joining the Ecosystem Assessment Programme to lead on indicator development and communication. A major component of his post to date has been the overall coordination of the 2010 BIP, with a specific role to lead the secretariat on strategy, liaison with external agencies and managing finance. Damon has overseen the development of four of the global indicators within the centre. He has a PhD in Antarctic marine ecology and prior to joining UNEP-WCMC spent 16 years undertaking biodiversity assessments/monitoring in polar, temperate and tropical habitats. When away from work Damon is mostly keeping his two young children amused, and sailing the Essex Blackwater on their Drascombe sailboat.
Tristan Tyrrell
Tristan has been working at UNEP-WCMC since January 2007 and with the 2010 BIP Secretariat for almost three years. His role is to coordinate the reporting between the indicator partners, the Secretariat, and the GEF. He also provides support to Damon, Anna and Philip, and anyone else who needs it, on the management and facilitation of the Partnership. When not working, Tristan likes to get outdoors and see some wildlife, both terrestrial and aquatic, but most of all doing anything that takes his mind off reporting.
Philip Bubb
Philip leads the 2010 BIP Secretariat’s work on linking global and national biodiversity indicator work, especially capacity building materials and workshops for national indicator developers. He also works at UNEP-WCMC on capacity building in ecosystem assessments, including understanding ecosystem functioning, and the stakeholder engagement in the UK National Ecosystem Assessment. He has a degree in Ecology and MSc in Natural Resource Management, worked in Chiapas, Mexico for seven years, and is a keen birder.
Anna Chenery
Anna has been the Communications focal point for the 2010 BIP for just over two years. Her responsibilities include the production of all partnership communication materials including the website, newsletters, brochures, factsheets, etc. Anna also has a keen interest in technical indicator development and leads on the production of the Official Development Assistance indicator. She has a degree in Marine Biology and MSc in Marine Environmental Protection. When not at her desk you will find Anna running along a canal way training for her next marathon.
